We’re currently exploring collaboration with Petronas in Malaysia on a pilot initiative at one of its terminals. This site, in particular, is ideal for deploying and validating smart asset‑integrity solutions before Petronas explores broader rollout.
From KL to Melaka and Pengerang
Our journey began at the provider’s headquarters, but the real story unfolds in the field. We visited a refinery in Melaka and two terminals in Pengerang, one of Malaysia’s largest integrated petrochemical hubs, AKA the Rotterdam of the East, including operations run by partners Vopak and Dialog.
We received existing workflows, listened to local teams, and tailored our tools: Site Explorer and Condition Monitor, to their unique daily challenges. One of these terminals, already a Falcker customer, is showcasing the tangible gains from integrated systems: clearer data flows, remote work preparation, and improved risk visibility across the operation.
An innovation-ready region Vopak, with over 40 terminals across Asia Pacific, perfectly demonstrates the infrastructure scale and ambition in the region. Investments like theirs show a commitment to operational resilience and future energy readiness.

Meanwhile, Malaysia is pouring billions into its energy infrastructure. For instance, the government recently announced that MYR 43 billion (~$10 billion) is being committed to upgrading the national grid, improving resilience, and supporting new growth sectors like data centers and carbon capture. Local operators aren’t waiting, they’re pushing ahead with digital adoption at scale, from pilot phases to full integration. That enthusiasm is amplified when companies already using solutions like ours help demonstrate their value in real-world scenarios.
Building confidence through pilot sites
The Malaysian pilot is a proof of concept that, with tools like those from Falcker, will help the operator:
- Build clear audit trails to support compliance and inspections
- Align maintenance and CAPEX to risk‑based insights
- Give SME’s and Centers of Expertise access to clear and centralised data
Asia’s appetite for innovation makes it a fertile ground for such pilots, particularly when local companies and partners are already seeing great results.

Digital, global but locally grounded
Falcker’s Asia strategy is about blending global expertise with regional relevance. We’re engaging local partners to ensure long‑term support and operational customization, starting with this pilot, but with an eye to Southeast Asia and beyond. The best transformations aren’t solo efforts, they’re partnership-driven, context-aware, and built for scale. We believe the same: solutions crafted with on-the-ground insight lead to meaningful change, from one pilot terminal to a global network of smarter compliance and risk management.
